This beautiful Section B stallion was purchased in Wales in 1999 to complement our breeding program here in the US. The bloodlines of Talybont Quicksilver, and his son, Farmore Publicity, have proven their competitiveness in the Welsh world in our country in all disciplines and we have for many years been looking for the perfect cross on what we feel is one of the best things going in the show ring. Next time you are at a show on the west coast, look in the Section B ring and you will see multiple descendants of these two stallions. Our future is now *Telynau Royal Charter.

Charter was purchased to bring the best Section B bloodlines from Wales to the United States to impact the Welsh pony world. Charter has proven to be THE cross for daughters of Talybont Quicksilver and Farmore Publicity and for other well-bred mares. This young, royally-bred stallion comes from two Royal Welsh winners: Eyarth Rio out of Geufronuchaf Miss Royal (Miss Royal was so named because she won the Royal Welsh as a foal). Eyarth Rio has won a WPCS medal every year that he has been shown. Rio has led the sire ratings in many European countries and has been the leading Section B sire in the UK from 1996 to 1998. Rio and Miss Royal are owned by the Telynau Stud, Caernarfon, Wales. We thank David and Geraint, Charter's breeders, (photo left by Carol Mauer) for their trust in allowing us to bring Charter to the United States where he can continue on the legacy of Rio in the USA.
Charter made his debut in the show ring at the West Midlands Stallion Show as a yearling where he won his class. He continued with his winning form, culminating in winning the Royal Welsh, NPS, and being Reserve Champion to his sire at the Glanusk Stallion Show, Anglesey and Denbigh & Flint. As a two year old he was lightly shown, being Reserve Champion again to his father at Clwyd, Reserve Champion Royal Bath & West, Champion Ponies UK West, Champion Nantwich & Reserve Supreme.
As a three year-old, he won numerous Championships at County Level, also Male Champion at the Royal of England, and Reserve Youngstock at the Royal Welsh Show. He was not shown as a four year old -- he ran out with his mares. Charter qualified for the Templeton Final at the Horse of the Year Show in 1998. In 1999 he won his first and Reserve Champion at the Royal Highland, first and Champion at the Northleach Show in Gloucestershire (he also won his silver medal) and again was first and Champion at the Great Yorkshire Show. He was brought in first out of 19 stallions at the Royal Welsh in Builth Wells and then was placed third overall.
Telynau Royal Charter has the same wonderful temperament typical of the ponies of Farmore Farms where stallions are handled and regularly ridden by children.
That temperment has taken Charter to the top in every realm of the Welsh Pony world in the USA. He has been Champion and Supreme Champion, time and again, and in multiple states: California, Oregon, Washington, Texas and Oklahoma. But to top that, Charter has won Championships too numerous to mention in both English and Western Pleasure, Hunters and Trail. His consistency in the show ring led him to receive his WPCSA Legion of Merit after just 2 years in the United States. Charter received his Legion of Merit in 2001 with more than 1500 points. Just three years later in 2004, he received his Award of Excellence with over 4000 points and was also awarded the American National Supreme Championship under both judges. In following the typical Royal Charter performance, he was division Champion in both Hunters and English Pleasure.
In 2004, No other stallion of any section had achieved the honor of an Individual Award of Excellence. However, a stallion can only be considered a great stallion when he can pass on these wonderful qualities. There are many, many beautiful Welsh ponies in our world, but there are only a few who can produce it time and again. Charter does just that. With only 6 foal crops on the ground in the United States, Charter received his Sire Legion of Merit. But he didn't just stop there, he also produced the top Half-Welsh and so proved his value as a true sire, by producing the ponies to grant him his Sire Legion of Honor. Again, no other stallion in WPCSA history to date has accomplished this feat and never in just a few foal crops.
Charter also has two foals from his first full foal crop here who have received their Individual Legion of Merit, Farmore Royal Heiress, and Individual Legion of Honor, Farmore Royal Ecstasy. For this consistency in producing superior ponies, Charter has given us more than any other stallion could. He has put us at the top of the charts as a leading stallion owner and sire.
From my first experience with a Welsh pony back in 1975 to today, the Welsh continue to impress me with their charm, their intelligence, their beauty and their will to work as a team. Charter is the culmination of these qualities and for him I am eternally grateful.
